Since meeting and becoming good friends at San Antonio's Clark High School,
Mojoe's founding members have taken all the timeless elements of black music,
mixed them together in a bowl, and rubbed a concoction called "gumbo groove"
all over themselves. Tre and Easy Lee have been stars in the making since day
one, from chasing local gigs in 2002 to signing a contract with Matthew
Knowles' Music World Music in 2006.
In mainstream musical terms 'the Mojoe sound' is like OutKast mixed with The
Roots, yet you'd never mistake them for being from Atlanta or Philly. The
appeal of classic.ghetto.soul. is equally street-savvy, intellectual, organic
... and authentically Southern.
Propelled by the regional-to-national explosion of (DJ) Screw music and culture,
Texas has emerged over the last few years as the breakout region in a Southern
-dominated rap industry. While Lil' Flip, Mike Jones, Paul Wall and more Texans
have shined, Mojoe has been grinding with aspirations of someone bumping
classic.ghetto.soul. 20 years from now.
Superb showmen and songwriters alike, the Mojoe boys have a keen sense for
matching melodies with vocal tones and rhythm, as well as unforgettable
hooks. East Side San Antonio native Tre and New Orleans native Easy Lee take
the stage with a full band and rock live shows that convert casual listeners
into fans in five minutes or less.
Roger Blevins, leader of Austin funk band Mingo Fishtrap, brought Mojoe抯
vision to life by co-producing a 揾ip-hop meets sugarshack?sound that places
classic.ghetto.soul. on the cutting edge of soul, blues, and rap music. The
project was carefully crafted at Blevins?independent home studio in Austin,
now known as Manor studios. classic ghetto soul will possibly always be ahead
of its time, much like the 慡oulful.Texas.HipHop.Live.?movement Mojoe has
spawned has with fellow lone star state artists Money Waters, Strange Fruit
Project, D-Madness, Verbal Seed, Thesis, Element7D, Mr. Blakes, Chalie Boy,
Southern Intellect, and many more.
Their sound and energy fuses the strengths and the strongest hip hop and soul
artists who抳e put out consistently classic albums while touring at will.
Twenty months from now ?let alone 20 years ?Tre, Easy Lee and the Mojoe
family band should be touring the world and establishing the longevity that
legendary careers are made of. Already writing and recording their sophomore
album Dirty Genes, Mojoe is set to keep proving that they are simultaneously
classic and ahead of their time.

An incredible new project from Carlos Nino -- a hip hop
effort, but one that's got the same deeply spiritual vibe as
his jazz productions! Lyrics and vocals are by Lil Sci, who
appears to be a great companion for Nino on this unique
musical journey -- and the music is from Carlos and other
members of his cosmic jazz posse -- including Miguel Atwood
-Ferguson, Ammoncontact, and The Life Force Trio! Most
tracks have a mix of live instrumentation and beats, but in
a way that's got the same depth as Nino's work with Build An
Ark -- and the record features guest performances from
Dwight Trible, Nate Morgan, and Tiffany Paige.
Lil Sci A/K/A John Robinson from Scienz of Life. Jazzy beats
meet a true hiphop emcee. This def aint some watered down
9th wonder type beats. THIS IS SOME REAL HIP-HOP! Suck a

J-Essential - Full Capacity 2006

Artist: J-Essential
Album: Full Capacity
Label: Independent
Genre: Rap
Rip date: Jun-03-2006
Street date: Jun-00-2006
Size: 77,3 MB
Type: Album
Quality: VBR kbps / 44.1kHz / Joint-StereoJ-Essential is an up and coming emcee with a unique approach to
todays hip-hop culture. Combining both the qualities of
old-school to mid-nineties rap with an innovative and
complementing sound compared to the genres more popular
lyricists, J-Essential has been able to capture audiences with a
fresh perspective and distinctive style. Inspired by an
ever-growing need to build his own stake in the hip-hop game,
J-Essential found himself writing over some of the most
influential beats in rap music, comparing what he generated to
that of the original emcee, and began to understand the
qualities of producing authentic lyrics and delivery. Through
this type of hip-hop education along with the dedication toward
listening to respected hip-hop artists, J-Essential learned how
to implement his own voice in a game filled with an array of
talent. Though J-Essential is currently unsigned, he has
successfully released two full length LPs independently and is
currently seeking recognition from various different labels. In
order to get his sound heard by a broader audience, J-Essential
understands the value a record label could have on his musics
exposure. Without willing to compromise the 6 years worth of
work and a life long attachment to true hip-hop, J-Essential
still feels that there is room in the hit or miss industry for
his sound to flourish without being compromised. This in turn
would allow a greater amount of listeners to appreciate and
understand J-Essentials direction in music, and could elevate
the thriving conscious section of hip-hop yet another notch. In
order to stay true to his roots, J-Essential has compiled
numerous amounts of tracks and lyrics, while working with the
production likes of Decap and various other beat-makers in order
to establish his approach and style through the years of
creating hip-hop music. Listening to the likes of A Tribe Called
Quest, De La Soul, Jay-Dee, and Gang-Starr to even some of the
newer hip-hop artists and groups such as Little Brother,
Supastition, and Kev Brown, J-Essential has been able to be
properly influenced by a distinct range of hip-hop musicians,
which in turn has enabled him to define his lyrical content and
flow with a sharper ability than most. Additional Information:
Besides appearing on two of his solo LPs, J-Essential also
recorded tracks for The Soundtrack and Pre-Game, both Decap
affiliated projects. J-Essential is currently working on an
untitled project with DJ/Producer Tyler Deane; expected for
release in the summer of 2006. J-Essential has performed at
various different venues throughout his career, including The
Middle East, Bills Bar, and Millys Tavern with upcoming shows
located in parts of NH, ME, and MA. J-Essential is in the works
of constructing his own website www.j-essential.com; in the
